We are a group of dedicated car Modelers who are currently members of the Delaware Valley Scale Modelers club, which is a local IPMS chapter. It's a club of seventy or so model builders, and covers all types of model building. This includes cars, as well as aircraft, ships, armor and figures. While it's a diverse, and interesting group of people, we car Modelers have been the small minority until recently.
In September 1999, members Jim Durso and Jamie Makin set out on a mission to find more car builders from the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. We knew they were out there based on the attendance at area model kit shows. It has been a huge success so far. In the last year, we have brought over a dozen new car Modelers into the club. Everyone is having a great time at our meetings, and enjoying the new friendships we are forming.
Jim Durso is also a member of a local classic car club (1:1 scale), which has been including model car displays, contests and make-it-and-take-it events at its semi-annual shows. He has been active in running the new car club and in recruiting new members. Jamie Makin is a devoted car modelers as well as a web site guru. She is running the club's web site, as well as donating free server space for it.
